My sister will be in labor soon.Very soon, I think. So I am making cookies and other useless things to fill my time and sop up my anxiety/excitement.
One thing I am doing is working on a dress pattern. It is a raglan sleeve dress with a gathered neckline and simple flutter sleeves. I love the simplicity of it but I am wondering if I need to make little bloomers for underneath, since I am making it for size 6m-2T. It seems they would be necessary unless leggings were worn(my preference).

So i'll be working on that through naptime- with only a slight interrupt fot blogging.

By the way, the "meatballs" turned out great!

So, I found the coolest thing...
A vegan meatloaf recipes creator, which allows you to plug in which items you would like to use and spits out the recipes for your loaf. I actually made one the other day and we all liked it, although we agreed that gravy would have been a better topping than ketchup. That should be a general rule, I think.
Anyway, I am making a different tonight, using white beans and instead of a loaf, I am turning it into meatballs. We'll see how it works out. It's fun even if it doesn't come out perfectly.
I guess this just goes back to the beauty of the web--the interactiveness. You don't have to just look up a recipe, you can create your own with a little help.

It is a constant challenge to balance my personal and work life, to give my creativity to my daughter and husband and still have something left to express through craft.
It is a challenge I face happily each day.
Lately, I have working on more pattern design because it is really very gratifying and also has been the most successful thing I have done, in terms of sales. I am working on a larger version of my wool dolls so that I can group the two styles together into a doll pattern and probably a coordinating pattern for outfits and accessories for the dolls. This is fun! Coming up with patterns for minature people!? How much better could it get??
My other pattern project is for an updated fifties style jumper with a buttoned collar and lots of gathers. This will take a bit longer to work out the sizing, but it's a fun project and I'm just taking a bit at a time.
I try to use nap time as a creative time and not fill it up with housework. There will be plenty of time for that later. :)

What a cool girl tricia royal is. She started up the flickr group wardrobe_remix as is a DIY street fashion community, and it has grown up to be huge! I finally joined this week although I have been perusing the pics for a long long time.
It's fun to see your own day to day style compiled like that I imagine, because it is great to see other people's.
I love that I can compare my style/clothes/sense of what's ok with this huge group of people and see that I'm not so crazy after all!
I have a few favorites of course,
galadarling, whose hair just rocks,
bitsandbobbins-- this is tricia. Her sense of color is f'ing... awesome.
and midoritsuri, whose style is so unlike mine it is ridiculous, but who I think looks fabulous in all of these shots.
